Join us in celebrating Asian Heritage Month with three authors, whose tales of resilience are helping change the face of Canadian literature.
Hieu Pham-Fraser, Sharon Lee, and Winnie L Cheung will be at Foo Hung Curios to sign your books! Their titles will also be on sale in-store at Foo Hung Curios.
Childhood Lost by Winnie Cheung and her mother Mei-fung Lee is a moving account of the Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945) through the innocent eyes of a child. Mei-fung hopes her story will inspire progress towards peace.
In Growing up Nisei, Sharon Lee documents her father Roy Kurita’s stories from the Great Depression and World War II. Roy endured discrimination, seizure of property, and lived as a prisoner of war in Canada, his birth country.
Hieu Pham-Fraser wrote The Little Girl, a children’s book about embracing our heritage and the pressure to anglicize our names.
We would like to acknowledge that our festival takes place on the unceded traditional territories of the Skwxwú7mesh, Səl̓ílwətaɬ and xʷməθkwəy̓əm First Nations.
